Property prices have been on a continuous 'up' for a decade, though the last 12 months were unprecedented. With the Reserve Bank and Government policies poised to cool this growth, there are first signs of a slowdown showing.

So if you are generally contemplating a sale of your property, this leaves you with two choices:

1) try and 'time the market' in order to sell at the peak before the market turns, or

2) realise and secure your capital gains now and avoid chasing the market downward once the peak is behind us.
